With the massive success of the MCEU and DCEU movies, it’s a pretty great time to be a comic book fan. Getting to see your heroes up on the big screen can be pretty thrilling experience, albeit there are some occasions when the movies don’t do justice to the source material.
However, comic books and other sources of superheroes have long been a big draw in the online industry, with several software developers doing licensing deals with movie studios and comic book creators to develop games based on their characters.
Indeed, there has been also a push to create original superhero characters within the industry, creating franchises that have become hugely popular with players. In light of that, we are going to list five games that will have huge crossover appeal for comic book fans.
There aren’t any Marvel games online any more after Disney pulled the plug on any branding. However, if you are a fan of the Thor comics, the closest you will get is the classic Thunderstruck II game. It’s based on Norse Mythology, following the exploits of Thor, Odin, Loki and Valkyrie. The best thing about this game is that it uses software to record your progress, unfolding like a story as you unlock new features in the Great Hall of Spins.
When Marvel its game partnership with Playtech, DC swooped in to create a massive range of online games. Around 20 games in total feature in the DC Superheroes games, and it is a difficult choice to pick out the best one. At a push, we would select Superman II machine. It’s packed full of special feature, has clips from the movie and is endlessly entertaining. Moreover, it’s connected to the DC Superheroes Jackpot game which is linked to all games in the series.
Age of the Gods: Prince of Olympus
Another game that become a franchise, as Age of the Gods now features around 12 titles (including an innovative jackpot roulette game). You can try the games with no need to make a deposit at the UK’s top casino for free spins. However, our favorite is definitely Prince of Olympus, which is based on the exploits of Hercules. The game’s theme is all about Hercules’ power – and rage – with fun bonus games, such as Hercules vs the Hydra.
Lara Croft: Temples & Tombs
Is Lara Croft a superhero? The jury is undecided, but the video game star does have her own series of comics which was revised by Dark Horse in 2014. However, she has been starring in games almost as long as she has been in video games, with the original Lara Croft game coming out 15 years ago. The most modern release – Temples and Tombs – is a step up in class, offering brilliant game-play, graphics and a superb jackpot game on the side.
Our final entry on the list is another from DC Comics. Justice League came out not long after the 2017 film, and features official imagery based on that release. It is, however, what one should call a serious game, meaning it doesn’t rely totally on its gimmick to sell itself. The game does have special components featuring Superman, Batman, but it’s also an easy to play game that markets itself on offering some huge payouts.
