How Long Would You Need To Work To Buy The iPhone XR?

Starting at just $749 USD, Apple’s new iPhone XR has been touted as a economical and pocket-friendly option for those who want a new Apple smartphone. But just how affordable is it for people around the world? Let’s find out!

According to a recent study from electronics trade-in website BankMyCell, the average American would have to work 4.7 days to be able to afford the 64GB iPhone XR.

The website compared the average monthly wages of residents in the largest cities in 61 countries to the local cost of the base iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR to come up with how many work days it would take someone in each region to afford one. The range is pretty huge.

With an average monthly salary of $3,428, Americans can pay off the base iPhone XR in less than one work week. Those in Bermuda, who have an average monthly salary of $5,500 can afford an iPhone XR in just 3.8 working days. On the other side of the spectrum, Cubans, who make $36 a month on average, would have to work 456.8 days (or five days a week for almost two years) in order to afford one.

“With smartphone prices hitting astronomical new heights, these are truly luxury items for price-conscious markets around the world where tremendous sales volumes come from the budget handset market,” BankMyCell stated in a news release.
